New Foods

Monday, November 23, 2020

My daughter has a friend who is pretty picky about what she eats. A lot of what we eat she has never tried. My daughter and I both like to cook and mostly from scratch. We aren't much for meals from a box or jar. My daughter's friend has been spending more time at our place for various reasons. My daughter has gotten her friend to expand her palate lately. She has tried (and liked) carrots, chicken kiev, wild rice, oatmeal raisin cookies, and brussel sprouts. I am sure there are a few more things. I am proud of my daughter for cooking the food and making it presentable so her friend is willing to try it. My daughter has even inspired her friend to want to learn how to cook. All this warms the heart and reminds me I am doing a good job with her.

I've always been a picky eater and unfortunately passed it on to my children. I'm glad your daughter was able to add some new foods to her friends likes.

Wonderful that your daughter has helped her friend try new foods. Now she wants to learn to cook, that is a wonderful turn around for that friend of your daughter. You are doing a great job with your daughter.

Awesome job! My friend from out of town has traditionally visited for new years (not this year though...) and she says she's a picky eater but ends up liking almost everything we serve to her, much to her surprise!

Jill this is a tribute to your parenting style!! SO MANY eat ONLY out of boxes, frozen, fast food. WOOHOO to you for helping your D by feeding her quality, homemade food. That'll help her in ways no material stuff could!! It'll serve her so well. It's GREAT she in turn is helping someone like ME!! Though my Mom always made homemade meals, I hated them, but being at friends and seeing different cultures which use many spices,, YUMMY!!

What a lovely tribute to you and to your daughter!
I wish I could do that with the GGD...they were raised on junk food and continue to refuse to eat meals that are prepared that contain even one item they do not (think) they like.
I just have to walk away thinking..not my circus ..not my monkeys!! but it is hard!!

You are definitely doing a good job of teaching her, so she can share with others.
