weight gain, winter predictor?

UGH! Doing the 5% challenge and I think I have it backwards and have gained again this week. I have been seeing some fat squirrels running around. I heard that you can tell how hard of a winter it will be by looking at the wild life - fat squirrel = long snowy winter.

The other day, my daughter sent me a pic of a beehive way up on the top of a tree. Again, the story goes, the higher up the beehive the more snow we will get.

Okay, I'll take a snowy winter over a cold winter, but I think my body is storing up for a cold snowy winter.

    I gain during the challenge too. I think Cleveland will have a cold snowy winter.. I am not looking

    I have decided to change my attitude toward winter. Normally we'd be snow-birding south, but because of the pandemic, we're staying put on the farm where it's easier to avoid people without masks, and people in general. Since DH is Norwegian and from North Dakota, I decided to "channel" his heritage and the Norsk attitude toward winter. I'm making every effort to embrace "friluftsliv" and adopt the attitude that there's no bad weather, just bad clothing. I have to say, my 4-layer face masks, make walking and running in the wind so much nicer. And I am also here to say, "Yes, you can exercise hard in a face mask and still breath. I'm at 4200 feet above sea level and it's easier than hiking mask free at 9000 feet above sea level."

    I have always lost weight in the winter, I think due to years of shovelling snow. I will need to watch it this year as that is a job I no longer have to do. Will be sticking to herbal teas instead of sweet treats.
    Snow is good if the sun is shining and the wind is calm.

    I am sooo not a winter person. Tell me again why I live up here? Still, I guess I'd rather have the snow than the bitter cold. Did you sign up for the Winter 5% Challenge yet? I've lost track of who has and who hasn't. Don't mind me. I need to finish up here and get to work soon.

    Ugh Oh that means weight gain so be very very careful!! Keep tracking and exercising!! The battle is real!! Let's Not hibernate! Long snowy winters mean lots of shoveling!! Get out and let's do it!!
