Ice Event

Tuesday, November 10, 2020

We were to have a winter storm today. Instead some warm air came in making it rain. It poured today! If that rain had been snow, we would have gotten a fair amount of snow. One inch of rain equals 10 inches of snow. I am not sure on the amount of rain we got today. The temps were very concerning however being it was at the freezing point. Our cars were coated with ice after work. We all started them early to help melt the ice so we didn't have to scrape as much or as hard. I am happy I have remote start and didn't have to leave the building. Walking was starting to get interesting when we left. The roads weren't all that bad. Of course I didn't drive with my normal lead foot. It didn't take long after I left for cars to start going into the ditches. The road report app was reporting spin outs by the time I got home. Glad I got to leave when I did. The snow has started now.

Hope everyone is well. Thanks for stopping by.

People just take to many chances and end up in the ditch, it happens every year the first couple of snow falls. Nice that you were able to get home in one piece and before it started snowing, as sure black ice would be giving more problems too.

Those yaktraxs might be a handy pocket stuffer.

One good thing about growing up in a snowy winter climate is having learned some really good driving skills. emoticon

JIll so GLAD you made it home safely!! I HATE the ice!! Thankfully I can see the place I live from where I live, so on really bad icy days, I'll put on my yaktraks and down I'll go!!!

Scraping ice off a car is NOT FUN!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE my metal edge scraper though because it gets it off the windows so much easier. I found it on Amazon, I had to make sure first it wasn't a cheapie one, those will bend if the ice is over a 1/2" thick. When it's an inch think (I live right on the harbor so that happens so much easier) AARRGGHH!!!
