October 27, 2020 TRUST ISSUES

Trusting in others doesn’t come easy for most people. It could be some don’t trust others because of past difficulties and being disappointed. It could be because they have been lied to so much. Others may not trust because they are skeptical about the motives or intentions of others. It is just hard to trust others because we see so much wrongdoing in this world.

When we put our trust in someone or something to protect us, we are going to be disappointed. Putting our trust in anything or anyone other than God will lead to disappointment and give us trust issues. Because of God’s promises, we can always count on His protection. His is our Rock and Redeemer. When we trust in God, we will be protected and blessed.

Jeremiah 17:7-8 “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.” (NLT)

1. Write how others have let you down.
2. List reasons why you need to trust in God.
3. Know God will protect you if you trust in Him.
4. Thank Him for His protection and blessings.

Dear Lord, we are so grateful for Your promises, Your protection and Your blessings. Help us, we pray, to remember to only place our trust in You. We know others will let us down. They may not do it intentionally but we just can’t count on others due to the sin in this world. However, we know we can always trust in You and Your word. And we are so thankful. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

1 Peter 1:21 “Through Christ you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory.” (NLT)

When we trust in God, we don’t have to worry. He will show us the right path to take.

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” (NLT)

Psalm 91:14-15 “The Lord says, ‘I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.’” (NLT)

If we want to be truly protected in life, we need to put our trust in God.

John 14:1 “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.” (NLT)
