Weight loss ebbs and flows

Saturday, October 24, 2020

So I am on month 4 of tracking and exercising and having some concentrated intentionality around weight loss. I am listening to my weightloss hypnotherapy daily, found a form of exercise that I love (biking), and have reformed my diet considerably, going back to whole foods that make me feel better. However, I have found that each month I gain back 4-6 lbs around my TOM. I lose 2-4 of those and then keep the other 2 lbs. I am just having to realize that a real loss of 4-5lbs is my takeaway each month and to not get excited about the loss and then gaining, to just ride it out. I have no idea if there is a way to decrease this, or if it's just facts. I'm treating it like facts for now, so I stop getting so discouraged. I don't know if this made sense, but I just had to get it out there because once I recognize my patterns I can either adjust them or make peace with them. So, there they are.

You are really doing a great job. You are so self-aware and disciplined. You really inspire me. Thank you for being so supportive too. The last few weeks have been rough, and I've really appreciated your checking in on me.

At least there is a net loss. This happened to me this week and I was more surprised how fast the weight came on, went off at end of week and I’ve never paid attention before I started tracking closely. Old as I am, there are still things to learn.

    Have a PHENOMENAL week! emoticon

At least you know that this is a monthly deal for you. I would suggest around that time concentrating on lowering your sodium intake plus also lowering carbohydrates at that time of the month. See if that might work for you.

    Take care.

emoticon You are astute and able to identify patterns, behaviors, cravings, all important so keep tuning in, expressing, assessing, believing. You are moving towards YOUR success formula and that journey isn’t sequential, linear or easy.

I haven't noticed anything connected to my cycle, but I'm on birth control so I don't think my hormones fluctuate as much... Treating it as fact seems like a good way to not lose motivation!

You are very observant and aware and in tune. I know you will figure things out, when and how it’s supposed to happen.
I’ve have always felt that my journey was like an accordion. It makes sense to view it this way, and keeps me pressing on when I seem to have set backs.
    Keep up the great work.

It is hard to ride it out, but . . . that's what to do to remain sane! At least for me.

Look at the overall picture. A net loss for the month. I think we judge too much by the scales. How are you feeling? How are your clothes fitting? Your skin? Your self esteem? Strength? Fitness?

I’ve lost 42.6 lb since July 2019. I’ve found time and patience are my friend. I try not to get discouraged over a gain or no loss. Just remember it’s hard to loose! Hand in there is the main thing.
