Relearning to Drive
Tuesday, October 20, 2020
Well, it happened today. The 1st real snow fall hit today. We have had some flurries leading up to today. Mother Nature let us have it today. It started about 10am. By the time I left work at 4:30pm, there was probably a good 6 inches of wet snow on the ground. I put my jeep in 4x4 just to help with traction from taking off from a stop sign. It was really bad outside my work. The plows really hadn't been out yet. I had checked the road conditions before I left and decide to take the interstate instead of back roads. Uff dah. Visibility was bad before I got to the interstate. We weren't going speed limit in town. While entering the highway, I could see semis were going slow. Right as I get on, I see 3 cars in the ditch. How fast were we going peeps? I saw a truck coming sideways down a hill in town. The van in front of me decided going putt-putt speed was a good option and I agreed. The whole drive home I went between 30-40mph. I got behind some semis going slow. I don't argue with slow semis in this type of weather. I saw 8 cars easy in the ditch before I got halfway home. The closer to home, the better the roads were. I came into town early and drove through instead of taking the highway all the way. A drive that takes about 20 minutes took me 45 tonight. I called my son and told him to take it easy. Also to let me know when he got home. His drive was bad too. Looks like the snow has stopped. Let's get the plows out and clear off the roads. Every winter we all have to relearn how to drive. Snow flies every year in MN so we should be used to it. Just some people think they can go speed limit on ice and snow because they have 4x4. Doesn't help you stay on the road in slick conditions. If you get behind me and I am crawling along, you are welcome to getting to where you wanted to go safely.
Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by!
