Walking on Water with Jesus John 6:19

Before I post today’s blog, I have to preface it by saying when I saw the title I exclaimed, “No way!” I just came out of my prayer time and twice this verse was a part of my study time. In John 6, Jesus had multiplied the loaves and fishes, and fed 5000. He ordered His disciples to gather up all the fragments so that nothing would be lost. Not one will be lost….
Then He proceeds to a mountain to be by Himself. Because of the miracle He performed, they were going to force Him to be king. So Jesus escapes to be alone, away from the influence of others.
The next passage we read, He is walking on water!
Walking on water with Jesus is what living by faith in the rhema Word is. It is supernatural. It is the Word that proceeds out of the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). It supersedes the natural realm of the earth. God’s rhema Word supersedes the laws of physics. God’s Word defies gravity. “The law of the Spirit of life in Christ hath made me free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:2). The curse has no hold on me.
God’s care is supernatural. He rained manna from heaven. He multiplied the loaves and the fishes. He parted the Red Sea. He raised Lazarus from the dead. And the list goes on…..
Paul warns us not to be moved by our afflictions, troubles, pressures (1 Thessalonians 3:3-4). The tempter will try to move us away from our hope so we will not persevere, stand fast in the Lord, in His Word of promise. The cunning lies of the enemy are his weapons to make us waiver, to cause us to err, to wander from truth.
When circumstances or feelings attempt to threaten our well-being, we can ask ourselves, “How is it written?” Our shield of faith is designed to quench all fiery darts! Do not fall prey to the devil’s lies. Do not be deceived like Eve in the garden (Genesis 3:1). No matter what you are facing, Jesus has already overcome this world.
What God has written in his Word belongs to us, and the Holy Spirit will reveal what we need to overcome this world. “So then, faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word (rhema) of God” (Romans 10:17). “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” (written to all 7 churches in Revelation).
