Yesterday I donated blood for the first time in almost a year and a half. Not sure why it took me so long to donate again. I am not fan of blood or needles but this is something that does not bother me. It took me over 40 years before I decided to donate in the first place. Years ago it was the "cool" thing to donate. The lines were long and you had to wait for your turn. Part of the line issue could be with everything on-line and the app they have now. One day I was doing my bucket list and I put blood donation on it. About 2 years ago, on a whim, I made an appointment. It makes me feel good inside to have donated. I do get tired for about a day after donation. It helps to keep up on the water! I have only done a half gallon so far. I really want to do more. The app shows me the journey of my blood. I can see what town it has gone to in order to help save a life. My new job encourages volunteering. Blood donating is a form they encourage. I see this as a form of paying it forward. (However I filled the pint bag in 4 minutes 28 seconds. I fear if I start to bleed out and they can't control it, I am toast.) I can donate again after Dec. 4. Merry Christmas to someone who may need it then and what a great time to help save a life!
