I am finally settled back at home after being in Austin, Texas for over two weeks. The joy of being “MIMI” with my sweet adorable “just turned one” grandson Lev, were wonderful moments and the time spent with my daughter and SIL was great fun. We had so many belly laughs, cooking together making delicious health conscious food, and getting familiar with the “lay of the land” so I can educate myself for my future move to Austin. Time went by fast; I saw plenty of homes for sale there but nothing snagged my heart yet.
Austin, (although a blue town,) is not California, and California is indeed not Texas. They are apples and oranges as far as I am concerned, so it will take a lot getting use to once I make the big move to Austin. I did find a fantastic market (originated in Washington) called Central. The bakery on site is amazing, fresh baked breads, cookies and pastries daily; their orange/cranberry oatmeal cookies are to die for.
Knowing I am going to eventually move, I have been eyeing my cottage and thinking of what I want and don’t want to bring with me on moving day. And I realize with the exception of my clothes, kitchenware and a few selected pieces of furniture, I want to start all over. My taste has changed over the years and I have been leaning more towards a modern/farmhouse style. So I will probably have an open house moving sale to get rid of a lot of pieces I no longer want. The older I get, the less I want.
If I think of all the work moving, I will be doing in the near future, I can get overwhelmed quite quickly. So instead I am concentrating on just today and making it the best ever for now. After all, I can always look at this photo which does bring a smile to my face:
