The Woods

Monday, October 05, 2020

Yesterday I took my German Shepherd for a walk in the local woods. I am not sure how many acres there is to these woods. I know they are a lot of trails through there. A walker can take many different ones once in there. A biker can also go through the trail. I guess it works better with the fat tire bikes. Anyway, my dog LOVED it. So many new smells for him. I couldn't keep up fast enough in his book. I will say my body is not used to the hills and "rugged" terrain. Let's not mention I probably wasn't wearing the best shoes for the woods either. Well, 2 miles and 1 hour later, we emerged from the woods. No turkeys or deer being hauled out with us. (My daughter was concerned my dog would go for them since they often can be seen in there). Today my calves are letting me know they were not happy with all this. Yep, the body is much happier on flat and paved roads like my neighborhood. Sadly, I did not find the sign with the code word for the contest going on in town. The word is somewhere in there. I am not going back however.

Great work out for the pup and a new adventure for Mum! Maybe a shorter walk for you next time..a walk in the woods would be my preference..but do what is right for you!!

You learned yesterday, that walking in the woods with steep inclines, and following a busy dog finding new smells is far different than walking the sidewalk or road near your home. Lucky you didn't meet any animal your dog would have loved to bring home as a trophy. Oh and proper shoes for the woods does do wonders.

OH with the right shoes, and slowly working up to being in there, that'd be SO COOL to explore!! It has to be quieter (Or is that LOLOL that I assume every place is noisy? Yeah I live in the city.

A GREAT WORKOUT if you work yourself up to it. SO NEAT!!

    Sounds PAWSOME.
