Just recently, I was asked to join the Steering Committee for the League of Women Voters in our town. The League's most important business these days is to see that EVERYONE WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO VOTE SHOULD REGISTER TO VOTE -- AND THEN VOTE.

I just learned a discouraging statistic - that for the 2016 presidential election, 46.9% of those who were eligible to vote did NOT vote.

This evening I attended a League- sponsored Zoom meeting with a presentation by a woman who has represented the League of Women Voters internationally - in many countries around the world. Many people in developing countries were interested in learning about how democracy works in the United States. They see us as a model - and they want to learn from us.

And today - while we may have sharp divisions among our citizens on the path this country should take for the future - we still have the opportunity to have our personal desires heard. .

Each of us has a voice.

And each of us has a responsibility.

So if we are privileged to have this opportunity...

...we ought to be sure to REGISTER...

... and then to VOTE!

PS It has only been 100 years that women in this country have had the right to vote!
