Another Day in Self Isolation

Tuesday, September 22, 2020

CA still has a high rate of COVID-19 cases. Unfortunately our smaller city is not getting testing materials so unless one has symptoms, one can not be tested here. When testing was free for anyone, cases started spiraling going from 6 to 100 in just weeks. Now that testing is minimized the number of new cases reported is standing at 0. This means that I need to self isolate. I do see my granddaughter who is also isolating because she is expecting her baby in Feb.

I miss my time with my young granddaughters. One started kindergarten online as that is how our schools are set up for now. She seems to be handling her chrome pad well.

Of course with these daily migraines I don't feel much like seeing anyone. All the medicine left to try is expensive so my insurance is requiring pre approval and denied one med. Since nausea is part of the migraine experience, I am eating only some foods. Fortunately salads seem to be one thing my stomach allows. Cottage cheese and some fruit are also okay. I can a handle toast and rice chex. My doctor at UCLA Migraine Center does have a plan B if the current meds prescribed do not work. Each time I see that doctor I have a 6 hour round trip drive.

Man, I feel for you with the migraines. I found that I get migraines with I eat something with caramel coloring. My daughter gets them also and she uses a peppermint essential oil and rubs it on her temples and the back of her neck. I guess the cooling sensation of the peppermints offsets the migraine. I hope you find what works for you.
