Views from Rabbit Ears - 9-19-20

This is a great weekend to get out and enjoy the views from Rabbit Ears!
Zachary Englebert got a great closeup of the actual rabbit ears, which Rabbit Ears Pass is named after. The remains of a volcanic core, they are visible from MILES away and served as a landmark when you had to navigate your horse without a GPS! Once you're up on the pass you can catch the sunrise near Dumont Lake, as Chip Jespersen did:
Or pause to enjoy the view from the Rabbit Ears trail, like Cindy Kinnear:
Jeff Hall also took his time on the trail, stopping to snap views along the hike, including blooming fireweed:
We're so fortunate that all this is a short drive away from my house, and now that we're retired we can even wait until a weekday so we don't need to compete with the folks who ONLY have the weekend to enjoy it!
I used the judgement of a teenager last night, and stayed up VERY late (well, very EARLY) reading a book that I just couldn't put down. On my second cup of coffee but it's going to take more. I know better than to get caught up right before bedtime, but at least I don't need to do anything more taxing than pet the cat today!
