August 26, 2020 - An Interview

Wednesday, August 26, 2020

So, I went in and met with 3 people this morning...they gave me the actual job listing write up [not previously available] and a list of 26 [I kid you not] questions. Very pleasant people, not asking for the world in 1 person, good cause (healthcare San Diego and Riverside Counties for low income people). I didn't sell myself, I was polite and thorough and answered their questions. I can do the job, as they had no impossible or pre-conceived measurements in place. Most of their grant sources have been public money, which I have no interest in pursuing I was told they wanted to expand to private funding sources - my strong suite as well as have someone to manage the grant processes and procedures...also my strong suite.

A couple of things stood out as warning bells : not willing to invest $ in research tools and the grants department doesn't report into Philanthropy / Development line of the business. This is a non-starter for me...they said they'd let me know either way. I don't think I will be offered the position, which I am fine with. Having already withdrawn from one non-profit consideration (way too much work for 1 person)...I am fine. Looking for the perfect position. Don't think it is out there and don't really care. Fine to 'coast to full retirement' in February when I collect my SSI.

I am lucky and / or blessed. Right now I can volunteer with my new passions - Climate Change

and Voting Rights.

Plenty to keep me busy. And starting a new venture on Thursday.
Phase 3 volunteer for a Covid-19 vaccine blind study ...

What I won't do to make the world a better place....
