Day 3 back at it.
Wednesday, August 19, 2020
Hi there! Yesterday was a rough day. OMG, so. Hungry. So hungry. I tried to just white-knuckle it through, but I was ready to eat the sofa, so we mixed up some VegaOne chocolate with almond flavoring and a bit of salt and OMG it was delicious and filled the gap. Like a fake cherry chocolate milkshake.
Don't stop reading, but I'm doing keto. I'm not here to evangelize it - that's pretty freakin' annoying when people do it with ANY way of eating. I'm basically journalling here - my experiences. What works, what doesn't, and now it makes me feel overall. And right now (day 3), it's surprising the heck out of me.
I was pretty anti-keto for a long time. Things I commonly thought: How can bacon and butter possibly be healthy. But I have a coworker who is keto and I've learned a lot from dining out with her (it's not all bacon and butter) and my husband is diabetic who prefers low carb anyway and previously lost 50 lbs on Atkins (and kept it off) and he was interested in low carb again for controlling his sugar and losing more weight.
So, I did some research. A lot of research and I started reading Diet Doctor. I liked it because it's a group of doctors and they don't actually sell products (you can subscribe to get access to additional tools and recipes if you'd like) and we decided to give the 2-week challenge a shot. It's great because it gives you menu plans And this is where I really bought in.
It's day three and I had my first bacon this morning.
But really, When I looked at the diet plans, I saw leafy greens. I saw avocado and other healthy fats. And I saw recipes I could get behind (although eggs, guys. Eggs. Ewwww, David!)
So here I am on day 3. I feel better than yesterday (I'm not ready to eat any furniture. How many carbs in a sofa anyway?) and I'm still happy with my choice to do this.
