Off the wagon

Well, I promised myself I would walk yesterday and it didn't happen. First, let me say I didn't plan for my day to be as disrupted as it was. I started back to work yesterday. My dog, who can tell time like you wouldn't believe, usually wakes me up around 6. She didn't. I slept in. I had a busy day and promised myself I would walk in the afternoon. Here's where I have no excuse. I had PLENTY of time in the afternoon. The weather was in the 70's with a light breeze. Perfect walking weather. I literally decided not to walk.
I really do not like exercise, as I have mentioned before, but I still felt a little guilty that I didn't get out there. So, today, I got up at 7 and walked. 2.2 miles in 42 minutes. Pretty slow, but I did it. I burned 230 calories or so... there are a lot of inclines so I am not sure of the total.
Serendipity hit again and I found an air conditioner. One of the old ones with dials instead of electronics. I love those as they last forever. People tend to prefer the new ones and replace the old ones even if they work. My other half has been instructed to pick it up so we can test it. We need a new air conditioner for our kitchen. So, this made the walk worth it. Reason # 6 to walk.
I have made a commitment to walk every day for 30 days, barring bad weather. I still don't feel confident enough of the COVID situation to walk indoors. I am hoping that by 30 days it will become enough of a habit that I can continue. September will be challenging since The students will be back and school will start 2 hours earlier than our professional development this month. I will need to get up at about 0530 to walk. I used to get up at 0400 to swim, so this should be doable. Once I have walked 2 miles a day for a month, I will extend the distance to 3 miles. And continue.
