Decisions Decisions

Lots of decisions this week.

We finished the house upheaval on Friday. I have three more boxes of donations ready to go, I'm just waiting to find out if the foster closet takes adult size jackets or if I need to just take them to the thrift store. I also have a bunch of stuffed animals that I've washed and have been air drying for several days to be absolutely sure they're totally dry. They need to be boxed up and I need to find someplace to donate them to. I want them to go to an organization that will give them to kids in crisis, I was going to give them to the fire department but I think they only take brand new ones. If any of you know of an organization that will take gently used, practically new, and clean stuffed animals for kids in crisis from violence, accident, natural disaster, etc I'm open to all suggestions and I don't mind paying postage to send them somewhere with that mission. Parting with them is really hard for me, I'm pretty attached, and I have a clear idea of where I want them to end up.

I have one week left of summer break and then I'll be back at work. I want to make it a fun one, so I need to find some things to do with my son. So much is either closed or not very safe right now (or both) that my options are pretty limited but it's important to me that we get some fun time together after so much work around the house.

I need to figure out how I'm going to make my curriculum remote learning friendly. I do a lot of assignments that are based on paper/pencil and cooperative learning (things like maps and models) - needing to be ready to go online overnight and the reality of social distancing in the classroom has kind of squashed my normal teaching techniques. I'm trying to enjoy my last week off, but keep that question in the back of my mind hoping I'll have some great ideas by the time the kids return. I also need to decide if I'm going to create a website for my classroom - one of my co-workers has one and it seems like a lot of work up front, but it's pretty cool that parents/students can access a whole lot of information any time they want beyond the assignments posted in Google Classroom. It's so much easier for her to post information to the page than to have to send out mass emails. With the prospect of remote learning, I kind of think I need to do a lot of front loading to make life easier for future me.

I have a really hard time working out in a mask. I also have proven that I am not successful working out at home no matter my best intentions. With our state wide mask order I need to decide if I'm going to wear a mask and go to the gym, or not wear a mask and work out at home. I've really struggled to make myself do either this last week - but I need to pick one and force myself to stick to it.

And the last decision. I have a haircut scheduled for Tuesday and I have to decide what to have my stylist do. I only get my hair cut once maybe every 2-3 years. It's longer than bra strap length right now. I need to decide whether to have her just trim it or if I should make a drastic change. I usually donate 10-12 inches of hair when I do get it cut, but my hair has gotten a lot thinner over the years and even if I cut that much off I'm not sure there will be enough to be worth donating. I like to keep it long so I can wear it up and out of my way, but I'd like a new look, but I know my hair is too fine and lacking in texture to hold any kind of style so I'll just end up clipping it back like I always do.

You may want to look at some of the hairstyle books at the salon or pictures of hairstyles online. That might help you decide.

I am sure you will make all the right choices. But as far as the hair, well that is a big one. I haven't had my hair cut for almost a year, and it usually is really really short, but now the sides are going down my shoulders, and with wavy hair, I like it, but it is so hot, and hubby doesn't have any idea how to make a pony tail for me as I found that is one thing you can't do with one arm that doesn't move. lol Good luck on your decision making.

Great that you have achieved a lot of sorting and finding places to receive goods this Summer. Wishing you success with the new school year with so many changes to challenge you and the students. emoticon

Lots of decisions for you to make right now. First of all maybe just a car ride somewhere wth your son and decide along the way what to do. Maybe a hike, a picnic or maybe even camping but I know that is a lot of work.
My hair is fine too and I wear it short. It got longer when COVID first started and it was a relief to get it cut off. It might be more work than just being able to out it up.

I know you will do what is right for you.

Good luck with the return to school. I know it will be challenging.
