Daily reality check
Thursday, July 30, 2020
Last night, and the night before, and maybe even the night before that, I gave in to the temptation to overeat in the evening. One thing led to another and before I knew it, I had probably eaten more calories in the evening than I should all day, or at least another meal's worth of calories.
Because of that, I didn't want to get on the scale this morning. But I did, and saw that yes, indeed, I have gained weight. It may just be water weight, as it's only two pounds. But because I have been overeating in the evening, I haven't been getting on the scale. I keep saying to myself, "I'll wait until I have been eating within calorie limits. Then I will get on the scale."
But the truth is that I need that reality check every morning. EVERY MORNING. I need to realize that what I eat the night before affects my long term goals, which are partly represented by the number on that scale.
I know, of course, that it's not entirely about the number on the scale. If I have been exercising and eating in a healthy way most of the time, those are victories and I should celebrate that. But if I remember in the evening that I will be weighing myself in the morning, I hope that will keep me from putting so much in my mouth!
