Smoking!

When I was 19, I picked up smoking as a habit...HUGE mistake! I quit when I was 22 for 6 months, and then started again and went for the next 4 years - just again quitting recently (hopefully this time it will be for good!!!)

I mention this because, while I was a smoker, I had absolutely NO desire to work out. At all. In place of my once healthy lifestyle choices, I replaced working out with a steady diet of alcohol and junk food.

Once I decided that it was time to 'take back my life,' I was amazed to find that within a week or so of giving up cigarettes, my energy levels SKYROCKETED! As did my motivation to get back in shape.

After 2 weeks of not smoking, I found that it was easier to run...and more enjoyable to do so, as well :)

Just wanted to mention this to any smokers out there who are trying to put themselves back together as well. Hope it helps. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or pointers. :)

    Good for you! I quit for the LAST time April 1994 or 1995? LOL! I forget. FOOD also tastes so much better, so be careful! emoticon

    I know what that's like...I've quit at least a dozen times since I started regularly smoking at 14. I know, 14! I took my first drag when I was 11, off one of my dad's that he left in the ashtray.

    So, are you still quit? I hope so. I'm still trying to quit, but at least I've cut back this past year. I only have about 4/day. I still make myself exercise in the hopes that hacking up a lung after cardio will prove harder than quiting :)

    I hope you've stuck with it! Kicking that habit is hard, I've seen friends try, definitely not something I want to go through. Good luck with this as well!
