Knowing when to exercise
Tuesday, July 28, 2020
I am going to the gym to swim in a few minutes. I wanted to do a full body workout before I went, but today my husband and I are going to do some errands and I will only have time to swim before we go. Knowing when to exercise is going to help me slow down when I need, even if I want to do more. There is a time and place for everything. Rushing through a workout just to get it in is not going to work for me. I have to take my time so that my body will respond to the work that I put it through when I exercise. On top of that, stressing about getting in a workout will only increase my cortisol and no one wants that. Losing weight takes time and planning. Some days require my energies for other things. I just need to know when to exercise and when to get things done and when to rest. I did not gain all of my extra weight overnight, and I can't expect to blast out a workout every day and ignore all the other things that I need to do in life. I will get in that full body workout today IF I get my other tasks completed, and I feel rested enough to workout later. I know my body. I can't do too much in one day even though I need to do a million things. Things work out better when I can take my time and think through it. I am finding out that the older I get, the more time I need to do the things that I want and need to do. Time to get ready for that swim, even if it is the only workout I get in today!
