COVID-19 Got You Down?

Yeah, me too. Being at home all the time, not feeling like going to the gym is safe, not feeling like running is safe in my area, yeah. I have suddenly lost a lot of resources with no fall back plan. Oh and also being at home all the time with the food so close by, and not to mention I am emotionally trigged to eat by stress/anxiety and boredom - phew. That is a lethal combination, no kidding.

Well I am determined not to backslide even more than I already have. I was invited to a SparkPeople group on FB and it had me wanting to rekindle what I previously had. I'm slowly accumulating small resources for at home workouts - although I'd LOVE a machine and possibly some more tools, I currently at least have a yoga mat and access to a few different online workouts.

I'm using: BollyX Bollywood Dance Workout, Get Healthy U TV, and Kaisa Fit right now. (Paid programs) Also Yoga with Adriene on YouTube from time to time.

BollyX is a super fun primarily cardio dance workout - definitely a great mood lifter. Get Healthy U has tons of videos, mostly I've been doing bodyweight HIIT style videos there. Kaisa Fit has a few different programs, I decided to try the Mobility Strength series because I had been regularly going to some very functional mobility oriented gym classes and I felt the lack of that in my life.

My dream would be to get a Hydrow rowing machine, but that is a hefty investment. I feel like my husband is unlikely to use the workout videos, but he might get on a machine, so I really also want a machine so that he has something to do.

OH I forgot - we got a mini-trampoline mostly for Ruby, but I'm not quite too heavy for it myself so I can get on it as well and I've done that once (well, once for more than a couple bounces - I did a little video from YouTube for beginner rebounder).

All in all I feel the exercise part of things coming together a bit, but my overall activity level feels so DOWN still and I've been turning to food too much. So trying to get motivated to improve my eating. I have tracked my food so far today! So I have to just keep trying and not give up. Right? Right.

    I'm sorry you're stressed and missing your usual exercise resources, but I am delighted to see you on SP again. I hope your area is recovering an beginning to re-open and you can get back to the gym again soon. emoticon In the meantime, I love that you're thinking of alternatives. Gotta have that game plan! emoticon

    It sounds like you've gathered a nice collection of exercise alternatives. emoticon

    The thing that seemed to turn the food tracking around for me was thinking of it as simply logging what I've chosen to nourish my body and using it as a tool to learn more about what supports me and what doesn't. I have learned so much in the process.

    It's an ongoing process and journey complete with its ebbs and flows.
