Tried Noom and then.....

Monday, April 27, 2020

Returned to Sparkpeople to take advantage of all that this site has to offer with its new premium membership. :)

I'm currently 51, 189 lbs, and not very strong. I want to change all that with weight training. Covid19 has the gyms closed, so I have to do this alone. Looking into some equipment now and doing online training, body weight specifically until I get some heavier handweights. There's a great duo on Facebook called get2droot and they post H.I.I.T. videos every Saturday morning. I have to get over myself and start doing those videos at least twice a week.

I have developed a home gym and thanks to Covid, I will probably NOT return to the gym environment.. I do like some of the lifting machines but gyms are sort of nasty in regards to bacteria. I bought a TRX suspension system a while back. Look it up, it's really great!

There are tons of free bodyweight videos on youtube, too. But some of the exercises can be too hard to start with. Hope you get a few weights, soon. In the meantime, you can do a lot without them.

On another site, I saw people discussing Noom. They didn't stick with it. I know I used lots of the thinking strategies from the Judith Beck program. Crucial!

    See you on the boards.

Good to see you! I use a suspension trainer for strength training. It enhances bodyweight moves via the angle you choose to place your body and it engages the core with every exercise. You can create more resistance by the angle of your body. There is almost nothing to the equipment: some nylon straps, handles, and a D ring to fasten it to a beam or a mechanism to fasten it to a door. You can use a tree branch. Lots of options. There is a very expensive and well known brand called TRX. This isn't necessary to get. The one I got cost about $30. On the SP bodyweight team I think there are some old threads about them. Google will be loaded with information.

It's good to see you again!
