It's been a long time

Friday, April 10, 2020

Looks like my last blog was 2017. Wow, lots has changed since then!

Most recently, the Covid 19 pandemic has affected everyone in some way or another. Thank God my family has not been directly affected, but the strain gets to everyone.

Closer to home, I had a much needed knee replacement in February. Advice to those who may be delaying: go ahead and get it done. I thought I was being tough by putting it off, but I was just being stupid. Regaining lost muscle is a real pain.

My sweet hubby had a heart attack a month ago. What a shock! Even thought he will be 80 next month, he is very active and fit. Fortunately he agreed to go to the ER when he had a really bad spell of what he thought was acid reflux. Turns out he had three blockages in the LAD (that's the one they call the widowmaker). The docs were able to put in 3 stents to open the artery and told him he was very fortunate it wasn't "the big one". He's doing great now and doesn't listen to me at all when I tell him to slow down and take it easy.

So, it's more important than ever to eat healthy. Hubby loves his sweets and breads, and I had gradually been giving in more and more to the same temptations. He is also diabetic (he tells people he's borderline, but the doc says he's crossed that border emoticon ) but doesn't take medication, so I'm trying to get him adjusted to a different way of eating.

So, I'm back using the tools that have worked for me before. I've gained over 20 pounds and it's time to take control!
