April 5, 2020 CHANGING OUR MINDS – 30 DAYS OF MEDITATING ON THE WORD OF GOD

Everyone has dealt with people who change their minds. Sometimes we change our minds due to an altering situation or increased understanding. However, despite how much people try, they can’t change our minds for us unless we allow them to do so. Only we have the power to change our minds. We don’t have to think a certain way. We don’t have to conform to this world or behave like others do.

God tells us in His word not to conform to the world’s way of thinking. He tells us not to have proud thoughts. He tells us to set our minds on what is lovely and good and from above…not to focus on this earth. We have the power to choose what we think about. It’s time we starting thinking for a change and change our thinking by meditating on God’s word.

SCRIPTURE:
Romans 12:2 “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write whether you think about God or the world more.
2. List how many times you think about God during the day.
3. Write down what God wants you to think about.
4. Begin practicing today to change your thinking according to God’s will.

PRAYER:
Lord, we are so grateful for Your word. It directs us. It helps us. It instructs us. We know the more we think about Your word and follow Your will, the better our lives will be. We can’t know Your will if we aren’t thinking about You. We can’t think about You if we don’t know Your word. Help us to remember to meditate on Your word and control our thoughts so we will know Your will. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

TODAY’S MEDITATION:
2 Corinthians 10:5 “We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.” (NLT)

Proverbs 23:7a “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” (NKJV)

Colossians 3:2 “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” (NIV)

APRIL CHALLENGE:
This month we focus on meditating on God’s word. Practice meditating on God’s word all throughout the day for the next 30 days. Experience and journal the changes God makes in your mind, heart, words and actions. Thank Him for these changes as you draw closer to Him. And remember God is in control!
