Wow, the past two weeks have been surreal with all the changes occurring all over the world and in my local area. Shelter in place orders have been issued and lots of businesses have closed. I am a preschool teacher. Attendance dropped by more than half last week and even more this week. I went to work on Monday but haven't been back. My husband and I thought it better that I stay home since I have asthma. It's difficult to practice social distancing with three and four year old children. My husband started working from home a week ago. He wasn't excited about the idea initially but he's adjusting. I try to stay out his way and not make too much noise during his working hours. We get to chat during his lunch break and sometimes go on a short walk. I am grateful that we are healthy and have what we need.
I was able to go see a gastrointestinal doctor earlier this month. We talked about my 20 year history with acid reflux and hiatal hernia. He suggested I undergo an upper endoscopy. It was scheduled for next week but has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 emergency. No elective surgeries or procedures can be performed in my area for now. I am not sure when it will be rescheduled.
