Working On A New SF Story
Wednesday, March 25, 2020
So I've started working on a new science fiction story that I plan on sending to Asimov's. It's going to be about 25 pages. I'm working on the outline right now. I have the characters figured out and the basic plot, but it's taking some time to figure out the details. I'm working really hard on this story, though, and trying to make it as character-driven as possible. It's already shaping up to be a really good story, though, possibly even better than my last SF story and I think it may have a good chance of getting picked up by Asimov's. Otherwise there's a few other science fiction magazines that I can try. I don't write a lot of science fiction, but every once in a while I like writing some. I'm working on getting better at writing horror, as well, as my "horror" stories really are just more on the creepy side and not really horrific enough. But I do like this story I'm working on now, although I think it's going to take a lot of work and a lot of thought. I will be working on this story throughout this week as long as I continue to feel well enough. It gives me something to focus on anyway. I kind of like writing a chapter on my manuscript and then working on a new story, and going back and forth like that. It breaks things up a little bit and keeps things fresh and interesting, plus it keeps me submitting things to editors and also putting stories away for later use. So anyway, this is my new project and it's a long and complicated one so it should keep me busy for a while.
