so far this 2020

Tuesday, February 04, 2020

This year hasn't been off to the best start in the Coombe household. Corey and Hazel had the flu, then I finally figured what caused my huge drop in my milk supply only for Corey and I to agree that it was time to stop pumping because it would take to much time away from the girls to build my supply up to what it was, Lila spent all of January battling a nasty diaper rash that is finally less than a week from disappearing, Corey's Crohn's had even more complications that kept him out of work all but one day in January, our big annual Superbowl party had to be canceled, and on top of that all, Corey was admitted to the hospital twice because of his Crohn's complications. They think he may have another bowel obstruction but the earliest they might do surgery is tomorrow when he's been there since Friday this time. I just want him home because I really miss him. The girls do too.

Somehow, I still managed to find my stride. I've had every morning this last month to myself as I've been going to bed with the girls or within an hour of them going to bed. My weight has gone down over 17 pounds and my body fat has dropped by over 13 pounds. My body feels clean and the lack of sugar has really stabilized my emotions.

The only downside for me personally this month is I seem to be getting baby fever again. Financially, we're not ready until Corey can finally go back to work and he's still not convinced we should have one. Aside from that, the extra weight has made the end of my pregnancy with Lila extremely painful and I don't want to even think about pulling out the IUD until I finish my time with 30/10. I also want to have my eating habits under control so if we do have another baby I can keep the weight gain to within the 25-35 recommended pounds.

Other than that, Life is settling in a new temporary routine for me. Hazel is getting less whiney with her reading lessons and doing better in school, My morning Bible reading has become a priority for me, and Lila doesn't seem to mind drinking formula now. We get up and get our school done, then have lunch and the girls play at the Y while I do my workout. I've been mostly maintaining a clean house and working on a list of projects to get done while Corey is away. The most I can sum it up is this: I am lonely but at peace, restless, but productive, weary but not defeated. And most of all, this too will pass.
