Daily goals. An idea "sparked" by SparkPeople post.

So, as I’ve already announced, I am back to regular posting in my teams. Am working on getting to everyone every day. I’ll be there.
I believe in the written journal. I reread my journal and learn from what I’ve experienced. On Jan. 14 one of SparkPeople’s postings was about writing goals………..EVERY DAY! That just struck me as genius. I have written my goals—both for me and the Winter Challenge, but those are the end goals, the big picture goals. This post made me think about what I do every day; and sometimes, I get lost everyday because the big goals seem so far away, so hard to accomplish, too difficult to work towards. I do believe I’m on a journey, and that journey is a series of steps—most often forward, but sometimes backwards and sometimes sideways. So, why not break down those big goals into what I can do TODAY to reach them? What will I need to do today to get to that goal? What’s my day like that I need to recognize and accommodate what I need to do to reach that big goal?
Our leadership team for the 5% challenge is helping me succeed by posting what we need to do to come in first, to pace ourselves to win—kind of like those big goals. (Big shoutout to _WARRIOR4LIFE in helping us see what we need to do.)
So, this coming week I’m going to write DAILY what I need to do/what I can do to reach those big goals. Instead of “failing” on those days I need to accommodate life, I’ll plan what I can do around life. I’ve already been planning what sorting/decluttering/packing I need to do each day, so why not also plan for my health journey? I think I’ll write these daily goals in a chart. I’ll be able to mark off what I’ve done, and, if necessary, adjust then for the next day—in light of my schedule. I may start looking for a calendar with bigger squares so I can put ALL my stuff for the day—life and health—in one square.
I’m going to try this. Makes sense now; maybe in a week I’ll have another insight.
