Day 37: Motivation Still High

My motivation is still high despite seeing a significant rise on the scale. I know there's no reason to panic as the only thing that has changed about my routine is that I have been working out more. The rise in weight is likely a fluctuation and my weight will probably go back down soon as long as I keep working out and eating normally. We are also going to run out of food stamps this month so there won't be much food to eat for a couple of weeks.

I did an ab workout this morning as well as my stretches. The ab workout was nice, as I don't get those in as often as I'd like to. I did the full workout, though, which was 12 minutes. It was a pretty good workout although I have had better core workouts (Tony Little had a core workout that I used to do that I really liked). Although the only problem is that I can't do a workout that's not in a chair anymore because of my back and ribs. Same reason I can't do yoga on the floor or lift more than a 1-lb weight. For now, I have to just do what I can do. Eventually I'll be able to start working out beyond a chair again.

One way or another, eating should be getting better in the next few weeks as there's just less around to eat right now. Having the good decisions made for me, which makes it easier.

I did a chakra relaxation meditation, a mindful meditation, and a "Working With Intense Sensations" meditation yesterday and my mindfulness practice is feeling much more expansive. It's starting to feel normal doing at least 3 meditations per day. I'm going to start working on longer sessions.

Read several chapters of Being of Power and several chapters of The World of Tibetan Buddhism. Understanding the material better and getting through the chapters easier. Gaining some insight and wisdom from what I've been reading.

Listened to a couple of podcasts yesterday. One was on the importance of recovery. It inspired me to use my foam roller yesterday even though yesterday wasn't a rest day for me. It was well worth the use, though, as I was able to crack my back in a few places and it felt really good. I'm looking forward to an ice bath this weekend, too, as I'm really sore.

I did well not smoking yesterday. It was my first successful nonsmoking day. My next nonsmoking day is on Sunday, but I probably won't smoke again until this afternoon.

Only got 4 glasses of water yesterday, but I did hit my goal. Still working on drinking enough water.

    Way to go on the not smoking! Perhaps you should tackle that first and then worry about the weight loss as you may end up eating a bit more but with the exercise it won't be so much!

    Great work on not smoking! It is tough - as a lifelong former smoker who has quit for many years, I know this well!
