Take Good Care of Yourself!

In the midst of the craziness of life, I make sure that self-care is on the schedule.
1. Once a month, I have an appointment to talk with a dietitian about how I'm controlling Type 2 Diabetes. This month, I had quite a surprise. Amber asked me about my snacks, and I told her that I often eat a Kind bar with only 5 grams of sugar in it. What a great bar!
She asked me; "how long have you been eating those bars?"
I responded; "For over a year!"
Amber then asked; "would you do me a favor, and read the label to me?"
I did, and the sugars content was up to 8 grams. They changed the ingredients of dark chocolate peanut butter Kind Bar! How dare they! Now I'm back on the hunt for a low sugar bar.
2. It's time to change my exercise routine. My right foot aches every day all day. This is a low-grade ache, but somehow, my years of constant hiking and walking are hurting my feet. Time for more stationary bike and swimming for exercise. I love to walk, and if I want to continue, I need to make some changes. Listening to our bodies is what keeps us moving forward!
3. Say "no" more than "yes". Melissa Rudy's article says a lot about this!
