Eating on the Road

Monday, December 30, 2019

First, hit my first mini-goal of 5 pounds down! I know it's mostly water weight, but being able to place a check mark next to the first goal is motivating for me! Next goal: lose 2.7 more pounds, to get out of the 250s.

One thing I do need to make a tighter plan for is eating on the road. I started a new job in July, and I travel often...sometimes 4 out of 5 weekdays. That means I am eating out very often. For the longer trips in one place, I make sure to go to a grocery store and buy what I need to make lunch. Dinner is where I need to get better. At first, I was pretty excited to be able to try all sorts of delicious food (and have work pay for it!). Although my mindset is shifting here, I need to make a concrete plan around making good choices and figuring out how to track what I am eating.

I haven't quite figured it out.

On the team "Team Keto!" there is a topic with a list of foods, the 8% list. Have a look at the low carb veggies there, like cauliflower, etc.

If you eat those with your restaurant meal you'll do great. No sweet sauces on the meat, and when the menu says one of:
    - rice, potatoes, pasta
    two of:
    - peas, corn, side salad, green beans, cauliflower, ...

You will take the meat, like I said no sweet sauces on it, and ask for a third veggie rather than one of the rice, potatoes or pasta. If you know that low carb list you will not take peas or corn, but then take three things, like sides salad, green beans and cauliflower.

Print out that 8% list if it helps. I also eat at hamburger places, ask for a sunless burger, most places will put it in a lettuce wrap. No fries and a diet drink. To make up for no fries I sometimes get two patties, maybe three, it just depends on how I feel. Usually 2 though.

Feel free to send me spark mail, I read it pretty frequently.

Sometimes it takes time to 'settle in' to new lifestyles. I have faith you'll figure out what you need to do to take care of yourself. emoticon
