My visit from the Junk guys

Wednesday, December 11, 2019

My first experience with 1-800-GOT-JUNK in 2018 involved a good deal of "sticker shock". Fair warning, if anyone is considering hiring them, they will not tell you until their truck is on site what it's going to cost you. This is because they charge based on how much of their truck your junk will take up. Doesn't matter what your junk weighs, what kind of junk it is, etc. All that matters is volume.

It also doesn't matter how much work their two fit guys have to do to get your junk from where it is into the truck. So if you have done a lot of pre-work, deconstructing, moving to a convenient spot in the house, etc., you will be definitely disappointed in how much it costs.

*THIS YEAR* I was prepared. I did NOT deconstruct the treadmill, lawn mower, or snow blower I wanted hauled off. I didn't relocate them. I just braced myself to pay their "minimum fee" for 1/8 of their truck. And this year, I was very satisfied. They came in, took Ariel (RIP) apart, wrestled her out of the house and into their truck, and wheeled the two other defunct machines up their ramp, and drove off, charging me (with the holiday discount) less than they did taking away the desk that my son and I laboriously deconstructed and moved into the garage for easy haul-away last year.

It's still a steep fee, but I was aware of and willing to pay it this year.

After they left, I vacuumed, and set up Sophia Silque Trek on her trainer, in the spot that Ariel had occupied. Going to take a page out of ALICIA363's book and do some cycling this Winter!

So... onward to make as good a choices as we can, to support our healthy life-styles, this Wednesday December 11, 2019. After all, it's the only one we'll ever get! And we are WORTH taking care of, each and every one of us! emoticon emoticon
