3 Grandsons...Almost
Sunday, December 08, 2019

Hi everyone! I'm about to have 3 grandsons. What I mean is I already have 2 and 1 is on the way. My daughter and her husband are expecting their first and much-longed- for child...a boy...a big boy already 9 pounds. Labor began at 9:00 pm Friday night and they checked into the hospital at 1:00 pm Saturday, but had a short stay. It appears that all her hard work didn't produce much progress in the effacement department. Her contractions weakened and with the baby's heartbeat unfazed by all the excitement, it seemed best to send them home. They left the hospital at 5 pm and went out to eat - finally, after a very long 20 hours fast. Needless to say, things have been a bit scattered here for the duration. I've been glued to my cellphone but managed to make a persimmon marmalade French toast casserole for this mornings' breakfast and a nice soup for the two of us to enjoy when my husband returned from his errand. We have some fresh red and green chards - nice early leaves that I didn't get to and will freeze in portion-size to add to our mango and greens smoothies. The persimmons are the Hachiya variety. The trees grow well here in Northern California. My persimmons came from a farm not far from our home and I really enjoyed making the marmalade using the rinds of mandarin oranges and lemons and substituting Splenda for most of the sugar called for. It packs quite a pucker-y wallop! An eventful day! I paced for a good part of it. That counts for exercise doesn't it?
