Holiday temptations and inner strength

Everyone have their guard up for those sneaky holiday calories. Well I thought I did!

So I am all ready for work on Monday and have my iron clad resolution in place to not eat the goodies at work. My Egyptian co-worker brings baklava. I love baklava. Out of control. I had to try all the different kinds.

Tuesday good (only worked half a day) and Wed good.

Thursday someone brings me toasted coconut donut from Dunkin' donuts. I love those and our local one no longer has them . I was pretty good, only ate half and stayed in my calorie range. (The other half still in bag in my kitchen) I even took the stairs twice up to the fifth floor . Twice! oh I already said that.

Friday I did well.

This morning I work half a day with 2 people I know will bring goodies. Ugh! Why is it so hard! My plan is to eat half of one and sneakily stick the other in my purse for my mom.

So not too bad. Day 1 was a disaster but rest of week not bad considering the temptations out there. I can't give up all sweets, but everything in moderation is ok- as long as I log those calories. Plus I really am doing the stairs at least once a day at work and of course I always take them down.

So here is to inner strength, may we all have it this holiday season and bounce back when we fail for a day!

    Oh dear. Baklava is on my irresistible list too, and I'd have done the same thing. Sometimes damage control--extra fitness minutes, adjusting other meals--is about as good as it gets.

    I am retired. However, when I was employed I had such a rough time staying away from sweets. Whenever they were in the office I wanted to eat all day. I did gain weight and have lost some of it. It was so much easier to eat sweets than to lose those pesky pounds. Keep going. You are doing some smart things to indulge just a bit - but not going overboard. emoticon

    I have gotten to the point where donuts don't even tempt me any more - no matter what kind they are. Most of them are much too sweet for me now.
