Merry & Motivated

Thursday, December 05, 2019

I'm feeling pretty good right now. I'm ready for Christmas and I'm feeling motivated. I have been exercising consistently again and keeping to my fitness routine. I did chair yoga yesterday and I did chair cardio this morning and I've been able to work out for about 6 minutes on average currently. I'm enjoying exercising even though I can't do anywhere near the kind of workouts I used to be able to do. I did some chair stretches as well this morning and even though exercising does hurt my side I am careful about it not to do anything too strenuous. I did some cleaning this morning as well but plan to do more later today and put up the Christmas tree as well. Not a big job, though, it's just a small fake tree that is already decorated and will fit in our room. I also have to wrap the last two of Fritzy's Christmas presents. That will be more than enough exercise for me today. I'm having trouble walking these days even though I'm down 25 pounds. My ankles are getting really bad and my knees are bad, too, and it hurts to walk. It is even difficult for me to walk from my car to Fritzy's school and back and I don't get many steps around the house either. 4,000 steps is a big day for me and most days I get less than 3K. Back when I was not having so many problems with my knees and ankles I could get 31,000 steps in a day!! Oh well, things change. When we went to the water park I had to stay in the hotel and we weren't able to go see the lights because I couldn't walk. Fritzy still had fun, though. I am working on getting in better shape, though. I don't think my ankles will ever get better but I will hopefully be able to do some floor exercises at some point. I have a lot of exercise DVDs and at least I'm hoping to be able to do some viniyoga at some point. I will do what I can and work slowly towards my goals. I am back to using 1 lb weights but at least I am lifting again. I will build up strength again like I did last time. I have 1, 2, 5, 7, 10, and 12 lb weights so I am set for a while. I need to buy a new set of pushup bars, though, as mine got stepped on and bent and I had to throw them away. I also lost the pump for my balance ball so I have to get a new one of those. A couple other pieces of my workout equipment were lost in the move but most of my stuff was recovered so I am pretty happy. I lost a lot less stuff in this move than in my last one so I can't complain too much. Right now I am using weights and resistance bands in my workouts and doing some yoga and some core work and some cardio and also doing stretches. I am also planning on using my ab roller a bit unless it hurts my side too much. I'm also thinking about trying to use the elliptical unless it is too hard on my ankles.

Been doing pretty well planning and tracking my food. I have some pretty healthy food planned on my grocery list and my eating has improved a lot in the past two years. I'm not binging nearly as much and on average my calories are down quite a bit. The most difficult things for me are sodium, sugar, and fat, of course, but I am working on that. The water pills do help with swelling and bloat, though, which is helpful. Tracking my food has been a positive thing for me and has been helping me to make better choices. I have had a few cravings lately but then I haven't been taking my Topamax as regularly and that diminishes cravings and appetite. I'm working on eating on a regular schedule and that seems to be helpful as well.

I haven't been drinking water at all lately and I want to start drinking and tracking it. Water is always easy for me to drink when I get in the habit of it but when I'm out of the habit of drinking it then I just don't drink any. I've been drinking way too much soda lately, though, and need to cut back.

Smoking less. Giving more of my money to Fritzy to save for toys. Also saving more money for myself for shopping. Doing well with this strategy. I've decided to start a little savings for myself for when Fritzy and I go shopping and if I use this money for fun stuff instead of cigarettes then I'm more likely not to smoke.

Haven't been meditating lately. Been sick and it got pushed to the wayside. Planning to start up again and finish re-reading The Dhammapada and revive my mindfulness practice.

Not much else to report. Hope everyone is having a good week. Keep Sparking! emoticon emoticon

It sounds like you are starting to feel a little better and I am so glad. Thanks so much for the spark goodie & yes, I am getting ready for Christmas. We have our tree up and our granddaughter loves it. She is five months old and crawled for the first time! Your room will look so nice when you get your tree up (ours is artificial too). Nice to hear you sounding like your old self. Hugs, Kat
