Beaver Moon, Xmas Decorating, Misc.

Friday, November 15, 2019

Have you noticed the beautiful full moon the past few nights? As always, throughout my life, I am often affected by a full moon and just have to hold on tightly for the roller coaster of internal churning it produces.

"The full moon that appears in November is called the Beaver Moon. There is disagreement over the origin of November’s beaver moon name. Some say it comes from Native Americans setting beaver traps during this month before the swamps froze to ensure a supply of warm winter furs."

Every time I think I'm going to not open another big bin of decorations, I have renewed energy the next day and dive in. What has made decorating so much easier this year is the day-by-day slow decorating process, not overwhelming myself with doing it all at once and burning out. Another thing that has made it easier is that I've gotten very organized when packing everything away, thus making it easier to unpack. I also have found a way to keep most of it within reach so I don't have to have someone help me climb, lift, move, etc. to get to the bins. I've already been called "Ms. Claus" due to it is looking like a wonderland. And about 30 percent more to go. I've finished with the lights, and will add the inflatables on Thxgiving weekend. Hope to take pics and post them.

We are still having warmer than usual temps, although not the uncomfortable ones of the last few weeks. I know it's ridiculous to mention the weather when so many are dealing with extremely cold temps already in the year.

Hard to believe we are at year's end. January will be 11 years on SP, and always amazes me because when I joined I didn't intend to stay. Even though I haven't achieved impressive results, I have to say that it has kept me making better choices or getting me back on track when I haven't. And, of course, you are the reason I have stayed so long. Really wonderful, supportive community.

Wishing all a happy, healthy day.

"Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance." Dave Barry

We finally got smart about organizing our decorations when we put them away each year - having favorite tree decorations in the same place, mantel decorations in another box, etc. And doing it over several days is brilliant!

I definitely notice full moons, mostly by the behavior of my students.

Noticed how big and lovely the moon was on my drive home last night, even thought the full moon is past.
So sorry to hear that you are affected by the moon. My friends have sons that the moon affects them. One just drives his mom crazy. The other is non-verbal and hits his head against the wall, thankfully his caseworker understands.
Congrats on being here for 11 years! It is a wonderful neighborhood here.

yes that decorating you have to pace yourself. Those people who are in the show The Great Christmas Light Fight, I don't know how they do it. Putting up or taking it down.

The few brief glimpses of the moon were lovely indeed. But the dark dreary days continue and it is snowing, but my sister is still coming in.
The saying fake it until you make it comes to mind. How can it not cheer you up with all the brightly colored decorations around? Even if it is for a sad reason. I have always liked lights and have them up permanently. Mainly because the apartment I lived in previously was so dark never getting a ray of sunshine, so the lights helped with the gloominess.
Having stayed so long on Sparkpeople also shows a great commitment to yourself.

That is such a good idea to gradually do the decorating for Christmas.
I am not sure if I will put any up this year as I will be on my own and I go
to my aunt's for Christmas. I might put up a few to cheer the place up.

We have so much smoke from the fires and 30+temperatures make me
sad to know that there is no rain and 6 people have perished.

I'm the same way with SP. I haven't lost a whole lot of weight, but I'm not gaining anymore, either. And I love the community.

The weather here was nicer today-- not nearly as hot and I'm wearing a sweater tonight. Maybe winter is here?

I can just see you outside, covered in long, dense, dark hair from head to toe, fangs exposed, howling at the moon. LOL. If you are looking for a victim I would like to volunteer my neighbor. LOL.

I will intensely enjoy your decorations while I grumble and humbug here. You take good care of me. emoticon

I also find it better to decorate a little every day. When we were young we did it in a day or two. Now we take at least a week

Saw another good movie today Ford vs Ferrari. I did start wrapping the prizes for Christmas as we are at 22 people as I come up with games to play for a group that big. Looking forward to your pictures

I originally joined spark about that long ago but had to change my login after quitting for a while. I'm planning on doing decorations slowly this year but my daughter and grandkids might have a different idea.
