I've decided to start writing daily blogs again as I think it will help me stay on track better. I am doing a little bit better these days and I think I am starting to get well enough that I may be able to start exercising again and I can definitely put the effort in with nutrition and I want to start meditating again as well, and getting back to drinking water regularly again, too. So those are all goals that I am going to work towards.
I have made out an exercise plan that seems simple enough for now. My ankles still aren't good enough for me to do anything other than chair exercises but that's fine. And of course my side is still hurting me so I have to be careful about that. But there's still plenty of exercises that I can do. As long as I'm doing something that's all that matters.
As for nutrition, I have been doing pretty well at tracking for about a month. The areas where I am doing well are with carbs, protein, vitamin c, and trans fats. I'm doing ok with fat and cholesterol. The areas that I am not doing so well on are calories, sugar, sodium, fiber, potassium, calcium, vitamin d, iron, and water. Although my doctor told me I am getting too much calcium but from my tracking it says I am not getting enough? not sure about that one. He told me to drink less milk so I am trying to. I am doing my best with calories but admittedly it's usually drinking milk that puts me over so maybe my doctor has a point. I am going to watch my calories more, though, as my weight has pretty much been stuck for the past month. I'm doing pretty well at choosing healthy foods, though, for the most part. I've noticed the people around me eat much worse than I do. I never see them eat any fruits or veggies, mostly sweets and fast food and I don't eat much of that. My favourite things to eat right now are salads with cottage cheese and cantaloupe chunks. I know once I factor in exercise I'll start to do better, but right now I'm doing the best I can with nutrition and what's important is that I keep tracking.
I've actually started drinking water again. I have a large cup that I use that has replaced my water bottle which I lost when we went to a friend's house. I have not really been tracking my water but that's something I need to start doing as well. I am starting a bit small with water but making an effort to get in as much as I can.
I found my meditation book so I need to start reading that again and get back in the habit of meditation and mindfulness. I want to recommit to Buddhism again and get back on the right track with all of that. This is one of my top priorities right now. I want to go through the meditation course that I was following before I dropped off on meditation and really get back into the swing of things there.
As far as smoking goes, I'm going to try cutting back. I'm going to try not smoking on the weekends when Fritzy is here and see how that goes and see what happens with it. I like being able to smoke when I am writing and when I am with Wyatt but it is better not to smoke when I am around my son.
I also want to try to listen to one podcast a day again to try to learn something. That is another goal that I have. We will see how this goes. I have subscribed to some news, history, HAES, and Buddhist ones so I will tell you what I learn from that.
