Hello Spark friends,
I've been having a terrible time with emotional eating (using food for comfort) and today I weighed in @ 139 lbs. After a period of feeling out-of-control with compulsive eating I finally feel motivated to begin the work to return to my goal weight of 125 lbs.
This is the third time I've lost a large amount of weight (80 - 110 lbs). Twice before - after maintaining the loss for a number of years - I regained the entire amount. It was devastating to watch the scale go up and up yet feel helpless to stop over-eating. I'm determined this won't happen a third time!
So for the past two days I've been tracking the food I eat. I've learned that meticulously tracking everything I eat is the most effective way for me to lose weight. My plan is to weigh myself each Wednesday and blog the result. Hopefully I'll be able to stay on track and see some progress.
I recently began a program at the Y and it feels good to be exercising. Of course, I'm taking it super-slow to avoid injury and/or over-exertion and I'll be careful as I add more to my routine. The instructors and volunteers are encouraging and very helpful.
The autumn colours are at their most brilliant and my neighbourhood looks just beautiful. But it's getting cold outside and it won't be long before autumn gives way to winter. Winter can be scenically beautiful but the cold, snow and ice can be a challenge. For those of us with mobility issues, getting around in the winter can be difficult. I'm more frequently housebound in the winter and cabin-fever becomes an issue. So I intend to enjoy every last bit of the autumn weather before the snow sets in and limits my options.
I hope everyone is well and moving toward improved health, wellness and quality of life. I just love Spark people and the opportunity we have to share our weigh-loss journeys. Not only does this help me feel more accountable to achieve my goals, it makes me feel less-alone with the experience.
God bless, Theresa
