Why I Should Know I Can
Sunday, October 27, 2019
Almost 10 years ago I had just turned 40 and I amazed myself...
...I lost almost 30 pounds
...I started running for the first time in my life
...I completed in races from 5Ks to half marathons
...I did 2 sprint triathlons
...I regularly road in long bike rides up to 45 miles
All of this was new to me. And, each success made me believe in myself more and more.
The weight has slowly crept on over the past 5 years or so. At my highest weight - 2 months ago - I weighed 10 pounds more than my highest weight ever.
Injuries - often based on a lack of strength and flexibility - made it difficult to run. Life’s ups and downs made working out, eating well, and taking care of myself hard. But, I don’t want to be ‘stuck’ in this place anymore. I want to believe in myself again.
About a week ago, I rejoined SparkPeople - which is what helped me achieve so much 10 years ago. That post earned me a blog of the day honor. And that honor led me to read some of my old posts.
I think I need to reread those old posts. To revisit those days when I was learning the things I thought were impossible were actually possible. Somehow, and I know it just takes a decisions and some action, I want to fully embrace this journey again.
I’m thankful SparkPeople is still here to support and motivate me! We can do this! I can do this!! It just takes making the next right choice. For me that meant signing up for a Pilates class tomorrow. No excuses!!!
What “next right choice” will you make?
