Why Do I Set Myself Up To Fail?

Hi Everyone.

Looks like I kept that whole "blog every day" goal for a whopping two days.

Why do I do that? I don't like letting you guys down, and I also hate being a person who doesn't stick to my goals.

So that's just really annoying, and I'm sorry.

I think when I did this before it was a lot easier because I was working, and spent 6-8 hours of my day behind a computer, so I always had time to pop in and update.

That's another excuse but instead of saying I'm going to update daily, I'm just going to say I'll try and update as often as a can.

MOVING ON.

I'm actually doing really well! Today, the scale read 266.6 which is 23.4 pounds down about 9 weeks. Slow and steady!

The most exciting new thing I'm doing is I decided to start training at an Olympic Weightlifting gym here in Dayton. And my coach is actually former Olympian who went to the 2012 games! How cool is that?

I decided I wanted to do it after asking J.D. if he thought I could. He straight up said no. Now, he said, it's not that I'm not capable, but I don't have the dedication. And he's right, the last three or four times I've started "lifting" I gave up like a week or two in. And that's because I was trying to teach myself by watching YouTube videos and reading books.

It is a whole different ballgame when you have one-on-one personal training working on your form and technique. So now on MWF when I drop Henry off at preschool, I head to the gym and lift. And then after lifting, if I have it left in me, I go to a different gym and do some cardio.

This whole time, I've also been sticking with Weight Watchers. I think the reason I prefer that now to CICO (Calorie In Calorie Out) which was what I did with SparkPeople the first time is that with WW, I don't have to count fruits or veggies, or eggs or chicken breast. So I go for those things first because it's easier. When I was counting calories I still had to care that a banana was 100 calories or that each egg was "costing" me 70 calories.

However, what I do miss is interacting with all of you. So I think my goal will be to weekly, make the rounds of SP looking at your blogs and trying to comment for that human interaction. I always appreciate all your comments, goodies, and messages because it reminds me that I am SO NOT ALONE in this daily, lifelong struggle.


Also, Henry turned two and a half a few days ago, which I think deserves a photo.



So here's me, not making any promises, other than to keep trying every day no matter when, why or how I mess up.

Hopefully, you'll be seeing more of me.

    I have been reading your blogs for years! Never posted but feel I know you like a friend. Weird huh. Anyway, I was working out right beside you, enjoying the gym, weight loss, new cloths now 4 years later.... I'm gaining, and gaining and don't seem to care. I love food! My question is how did you get ur mindset back? I can't seem to get there. Every week I say, THIS IS THE WEEK, DATE, TIME then I just stick my hand in the cookies jar again.

    Girl! Don't beat yourself up over it! Blogging (I'm a blogger myself for our farm The Faithful Farmer Momma) takes a lot of time although many people don't realize that. It can become time consuming and almost overwhelming at times too. With our blog, we try to write a few times a week because daily is just SO hard to do, especially if you are adding pictures and music. I love blogging but I find that focusing on ONE good blog is really so much better than just producing a blog every day.

    Henry is adorable! Geez, the last time I was on Spark, you and hubby were just getting ready to get married! :) God bless little Henry! He's adorable!

    emoticon Congrats on your weight loss success! Lifting is my favorite kind of workout because I love the progress I can feel in my strength. I also started off with a personal trainer to motivate me and show me proper form. I would have loved to have a former Olympian as my trainer! Enjoy!

    We all need to find what works for us - WW, Sparkpeople, etc. - so keep working with whatever you are most comfortable with. I'll watch for your blogs - doesn't matter how often you post, but I really enjoy reading them.

    Weight Watchers is an excellent program combined with Sparkpeople. I stopped blogging as life does get in the way and there is nothing wrong with that .... Life is Good. It was difficult for me to respond to others and read their blogs as time did not permit and then I would feel guilty for me, guilt is an excess baggage that triggered me to eat.
    Now, I track , workout and take care of myself first without guilt. I do post on the feed in the morning to check in ( once and awhile) and I very seldomly get to my sparkpage anymore. Everyone is different as to how we accomplish our goals. One day at a time. emoticon

    You're doing great! Personally, I like it better when people blog occasionally versus daily. Then it's like a nice surprise when you see something from them. I have no room to talk anyway - I blog very rarely, but enjoy hearing from others and cheering them on!

    I do both WW and Spark. I need the interaction with my WW group (I've been going for over 10 years). I am at goal, still attend meetings every week, weigh in and reset each Friday. I've been up and down, the journey is not a straight line. Thanks to WW I discovered my thyroid had taken a dive and decided to slow way down. It took a year to get back to my goal. I need my daily dose of Spark to keep me focused. Today is day 500 of sparking, I have been under goal for over a year. It is still a daily struggle, but thanks to both programs I am in a better position to maintain. So, do what works best for you and keep your goals in sight. Each program offers the help we all need on this journey.

    Life is more complicated when sharing it with others.
    Being married a Mom is awesome , it's a full time job.
    Work at smaller goals ones that fit into your lifestyle.
    I'm single, older free to do whatever.
    Working me was 19 hr days , and no time for extras like myself. Ha!
    I've always said, each person has to find what works for them in losing weight.
    If you are happy in your plan, go for it.
    You'll get there, your are a strong determined women, mom.

    It sounds like you’re making good choices now. I’m blown away when you say losing 2 1/2 pounds a week is slow weight loss. I’ve never been able to do that. How very fortunate you are.
