Goals & Gratitude 10/26/19

Sunday, October 27, 2019

Just a quick check in tonight as I haven't had time all week. I've gotten lots of homework done this week and I am actually ahead in two out of four classes. I was supposed to go to the local monastery tomorrow for the monthly talk and gathering, but the event was cancelled due to possible rain and power outages. There are also fires near the monastery, though there is no evacuation order as of right now and the fires aren't that close, thank God. The monastery nearly burned down two years ago in the Thomas fire. That fire started right down the road from them at Thomas Aquinas College (hence Thomas fire), and some of the monastery's property burned. They lost many old trees and their lavender fields, but none of the buildings burned. I'm hoping we start to get rain so that fire season doesn't go on for as long as it usually does. We had a mild summer here in So. Cal., which helps.

Since I won't be going to the monastery tomorrow, I will come home and do a little homework and go for a walk. I am hoping to spend the evening cutting up plums that I received today for jam making and making some needlepoint Christmas gifts that I've been working on. I will post pictures next week when I am further along with the one project. It is shaping up nicely.

I had a nice evening tonight. We had a singles/unmarrieds women's group meet. There were five of us. We had breakfast for dinner and everyone brought good food. I brought bacon, sausage, and the cake that I baked for the monastery trip. We also had pancakes, fruit, and quiche lorraine. I had never had quiche lorraine before and this was very, very good. I don't usually like quiche but I had three pieces! Oh my! I ate lightly today, so I hope I didn't go over my calories too much. It was kinda hard to track. Anyways, we had a nice time talking at we said the Akathist to St. Xenia of St. Petersburg. I want to print that out and say it again. We pray to her for help with finding a spouse or a job or a home or for help with families and so on. She is kinda a "catch all" saint.

Tomorrow's Goals:
1) Cut up the plums and freeze them for jam making.
2) Work on the ch. 4 homework for Tax Planning, and read ch. 5.
3) Do the dishes.
4) Do the laundry.

Today I'm Grateful For...
1) Nice fellowship this evening.
2) That I had a use for my cake after all.
3) That I received free plums for jam making.
