Turning my discouragement around with self care

After being sick last week, I was excited to get back to my routine this week. Then I woke up this morning, and my lower back issues decided to say hello. It was pretty rude, to be honest 😂.

I was feeling really down at first. I’m trying so hard to stay on track, and some days it feels as if the universe is conspiring to make sure I fail. But I know that’s not true, and so I’m changing the narrative.

I can barely move today, let alone go for the walk/jog I had planned. But instead of feeling sorry for myself, I’m going to take charge and do what needs to be done. Today this means SELF CARE. I will not beat myself up. I will not wallow. I will not comfort myself with junk food. I will not mourn the plans I lost. Instead, I will make a new plan for the day I’ve been given.

1) I will take Epsom salt baths, use a heating pad, & take ibuprofen to ease the pain.
2) I will drink plenty of water and eat well to give my body the tools it needs to heal.
3) I will try some VERY gentle yoga to stretch my muscles and ease tension.
4) Most important: I will treat my body as a friend today. I will show it love & compassion, and not berate it for any perceived failings.
