Soda challenge day one

Friday, October 18, 2019

What a rough start. I was going to see my son and my car broke. I ended up in a car repair shop for over four hours with a soda area right there. It was like a constant magnetic force pulling me towards it. I had brought a large oj and cheese sticks along. If I’d known what was going to happen, I’d brought lunch and waters too. Ten minutes before the car was done I took out some change and made my way over there. I felt the change in my hand as I flipped the coins around each other. I asked do you really want to do this? And I started to go back to my seat with no pop. I tried to keep myself distracted. Then later we went out for fish with two other couples, followed by cards. I asked for water. My husband got Mountain Dew. Oh it looked so good bubbling there. I drank the whole water. I wanted more and tilted my glass towards my husband. He usually would get the waitress over to help. He misunderstood and went to pour some of his soda in my glass. No! I explained my intentions while I blocked my cup just in time. What was he thinking, I never share, unless I’m the one giving it away, germ thing I picked up from my grandma. She’d never share either. So I avoided two major triggers for drinking soda today. Rough, but good start. Just thinking about cola and my mouth waters. Doesn’t matter if it’s caffeine or caffeine free, I just love soda pop. I hope I learn to love it less.
