Clearing, Cleaning and Letting Go

Thursday, October 17, 2019

Another (remodel) project. Feels almost like moving. Again. Shades of last year and the pre-wedding whole house painting project. I decided to be cheerful and upbeat about it; to see the opportunity to 'downsize' and clear our space of items that we no longer need or use. I mustered the attitude and energy to tackle the 'stuff' as we packed things to get them out of the way for 'the project'.

This is not new, I try to use 'spring (and Fall) cleaning' to accomplish this goal each year with mixed success. There are always some items I attempt to pass on that end up staying because I have trouble letting go after the people I want to pass them on to don't want them. Not this time. This time I identified items that needed to leave us, whether to family or to Goodwill; including many of the aforementioned ball-and-chain items. Family members came, saw, and declined; then the pile was bagged up for Goodwill and actually left. No way was I letting those things re-enter our space. No matter how fine the items were, or how much 'sunk' cost was represented, they were slated for departure and I kept my resolve.

I have felt this way about excess weight: vowing to remove it and never let it back onto my body. This is not nearly as easy. Too bad, so sad. I am feeling that when this home remodel project is finished I will want to re-start my body remodel project with more resolve as well. This project is reminding me that change is possible, that resolve is necessary, and that the right attitude is essential.

I'll keep you posted. Keep Sparking and find ways to make it fun!

Peace and Care

Sometimes we have to let go of the clutter around us to clear our minds which brings changes in other areas ~ like weight loss. Good for you it is a tough thing to do (
I'm still working through it in my mind) emoticon

Fantastic! It's hard to let go of times that have some emotional attachment. If the one(s) I think might be interested, aren't, then I take a picture of it before donating it. That way I still have the memories.

As far as the weight, yes, have to let that go, too! The more I work on me physically, emotionally, spiritually, the more I am firm in my commitment never to see that weight again!

I feel like weight loss is so similar to decluttering and letting what doesn't work go! Good luck with the remodel project emoticon

Am I allowed to ask what you are remodeling? I am excited for you! Are you going to take before and after photos of the remodel?

I vow to remove excess weight, but against popular advice I always save favorite clothes that are too big. If my metabolism slows even more or I go on steroids for some illness or whatever I want to be able to feel good no matter my size and not have to shop.

You already are remodeling your body with the positive changes you have made so far. You know how remodels go sometimes. They can take longer than we expected. My body remodel is taking years. I avoid any home remodels though because I don't have the patience.
