So, y'all know I am not a "regular" Sparker, but I know some of you like to keep up with me, and I with you. So, I thought I would write a little blog.

I have recently started driving for Uber, as I was not getting enough hours at work. Driving Uber doesn't even seem like work, and it does give a little extra income. I may regret my choice at tax time, but only time will tell.

On the professional front, there is a new Acute Rehab hospital opening here next month. They have been plagued by delays, but I have been assured that my application is still in consideration. They will open in September (I was not told a date) and will have 20 patients initially to "pass" certification. Ah, the government regulation of health care - gotta love it! NOT!

Still on this journey called life, and hoping to cherish every moment I get. Still getting out playing Pokemon, it seems to motivate me to be outside and active. On the food front, I have discovered Steel Cut Oats. I used to think I didn't like them, as they were always served to me sweet, with sugar, and sweet spices like cinnamon, sometimes raisins in them. A long time ago, when I was an Adult leader at a church camp, another adult told me to eat them like grits with salt, pepper and butter. I like them this way! I was concerned about the carb content, but haven't noticed any "terrible" effects on my blood sugar. Just looked up the nutrition information (probably for the umpteenth time) and discovered that a 1/4 cup serving has 29 grams of carbs and 5 grams of fiber. Forgot to look at protein content. Anyway, this is quite reasonable for a "meal" and I am pleased that I feel satisfied until lunch time. I still like my eggs, but the oats are more filling. I may have to try both at a meal to see if the additional protein makes a difference.

I have an Amtgard event this weekend, about 2.5 hours away at a camp grounds in Minnesota. I threw myself under the bus to be on the food team. Have been puttering around and throwing things in to a tote that I will want with me to prep food. Excited as my daughter and son-in-law are in charge of the games. I will get to see at least them, possibly their two girls.

Off to the rest of my day.
