Two Challenges-Two Victories!

Two big challenges today (which were both BIGGIES) and I did pretty well...

First, my friends and I had decided to go out to a Mexican restaurant after church this morning.... and after I scanned the entire menu, I chose a salad that was full of healthy greens, grilled protein, and beneficial fat (avocado)..... I didn’t even use the salad dressing they offered! Though my companions chowed down on the fresh bowl of tortilla chips and salsa, I allowed myself THREE, and STOPPED! I was pleasantly full, and consumed 32 ounces of water at one sitting, and felt positively virtuous, even though upon tracking it amounted to over 500 calories (but it could have been SO MUCH WORSE!). It was worth it...

Then this evening at a church covered dish supper, I carefully chose small portions and left plenty of room on my plate for the watermelon that I had brought, knowing that watermelon fills up any hungry places a lot better that the slew of desserts that normally show up at those kind of affairs. AND at the end I took home watermelon so I didn’t have any high calorie traps that could ambush me... ...

I don’t always make the right choice, but today I felt good about them, even if the total calories are a little high... one day at a time!!!
