Summer Sloooowness

Saturday, August 10, 2019

Only 0.2 pound down this week, but I think it has to do with...never mind, TMI. emoticon
I’m sure glad I have a scale that measures in small increments! In any case, 0.2 pounds is about 3/4 of a stick of butter. So there's that.

I did have a nice little NSV yesterday. I was able to wear a blouse that was gapping in front at the beginning of the summer. It’s sleeveless and the summers are short here, so I’m glad I might get a few more chances to wear it. Because, ya know it’s going to be too BIG next summer!

I haven’t really lost much in inches “up there” but I must be getting leaner because things are getting looser. When you’re losing as slowly as I am, you take all the victories you can!

To keep from getting bored at this tempo, I’m doing a few new things. I finally bought myself a foam roller and I think it’s going to be a game changer, especially for my upper back and hamstrings, two areas where I tend to get really tight and sore. I also want to get a lighter pair of dumbbells - 2 kilos (4.4 pounds) - because the 3 kilo weights (6.6 pounds) are a bit too heavy for some of the exercises I’m doing.

Summer is a great time to try something new. Anyone want to share what new device or tactic they’re using or thinking of in order to change things up and keep the fitness game fun?!

So funny! I love my foam rollers. I use them at the gym and I use them at home. They’re great for sore, but we also use them to increase blood flow in certain muscles during our workouts.
I recently got an agility ladder. We use them at the gym as well, and it’s a fun -for me - cardio workout. There are lots of different drills that you can do, I find new ones on YouTube. I believe that it also helps with my balance. Mine wasn’t expensive.

That reminds me to get out my foam roller again. Especially after the long walk I just did

I am not a fitness loving person so I find most of it very challenging. Several months ago I found chair yoga on you tube with Sherry Zak Morris which is my Sunday Funday fitness. She has designed the program for people over 50 or with arthritis to keep their bodies mobile and functioning good. I am also doing her 15 minute strong leg routine on leg day to strengthen my legs.
