My Hon Passed Her Blood Test! & Contrave
Wednesday, July 17, 2019
The other day hubby and I looked at my blood test results online and he said 'My Hon Passed Her Blood Test!' We are pleased my readings are in the normal ranges, and I am no longer borderline diabetic. Yesterday I had a follow up appointment with my weight loss doctor. He said I was doing well, and the weight coming off slowly means I've had a lifestyle change and will keep it off. I asked for Contrave to see if it would speed it up, and I got a one month sample and a prescription for a refill if I think it's helping. It is believed to work on two areas of your brain—the hunger center and the reward system—to reduce hunger and help control cravings.
The doctor is now prescribing Optifast to a few patients, so he wanted to personally see how it works. He tried it for a month and lost 17 pounds, with 4 meal replacements a day. He said the new problem is, as you weigh less you need even less food, so it can be difficult to keep it off. I may try it in fall for 3 months and hubby said he would do it with me for a month. Do you know of anyone who has done it?
I still have sleep issues and he recommended melatonin l-theanine 5-htp. I tried 2 chewable tablets last night and had a better sleep - fewer wake ups and more hours of sleep.
I am learning along the way 'food is not the problem, it's how we handle life'. That's what lifestyle change is all about, forming healthy new habits and forgetting ones. An important one is to not react to everyday things with food. No more happy-eat, sad-eat, bored-eat.
Some of my new habits already seem like old habits. My go-to snacks under 200 calories - favorite apple slices and string cheese 190 calories, and my quick and easy meal - favorite Marie Callender Roasted Turkey with Mashed Potatoes & Stuffing 280 calories. These are always on my grocery list.
Today is my birthday and I am spending with all 6 of my little darlings. There are 2 - 7 yr olds, 2 - 11 yr. olds, one 13, and one 14, so everyone has a buddy. They get along well and are always laughing and ready to play. On Sunday we are having a garden party to celebrate my birthday, so the kids are busy planning and doing some special projects - yard work, food, cupcakes, entertainment (violin, ukelele, vocals, karaoke), photo booth, clothes, clean house.
