Light bulb moment?

Tuesday, June 25, 2019

The pounds seem to come off more slowly as I age.

Awhile ago I wondered how much weight I lost and gained each year. Instead of only looking at the net gain/loss for the year, what would happen if I added each daily loss separately and each daily gain separately? What an eye opener!

I would have been below my goal weight if I had held on to every weight loss last year. The average monthly loss was 18.7 pounds. Each month shows losses and gains. Because of gains, the net loss was 6.6 pounds for 2018.

How do I hang on to the losses? Eliminate/minimize the gains?

During the best times, this has been the nutrition plan: Follow the food plan as much as possible. In situations where that is not possible, moderation works. Pay attention to true signs of hunger and fullness. Make snacking a rare exception. Do not eat after supper. Drink water. Use the tracker. Plus all the other things I've learned over the years.

Then there are times when apathy strikes. Life gets busy. The focus blurs. This is the area I have to work on. Back to basics every day so habits grow strong and become the regular routine. Be aware. Stay focused.

I can do this.
