Empty grocery store shelves

Yesterday, my BIL took me to the grocery store. I buy drinking water there as I can't stand the water that comes out of the tap, so while he was filling my bottles from the dispenser, I started to do some shopping.
I had set aside a couple of recipes that looked very interesting, and had marked items on my list that I will need to make them, and there was a couple of other items that I needed.
As I went up and down the isles, I noticed that there was a lot of empty space on the shelves, some items were out of stock and one complete shelf had a sign that said they were "repositoning" to serve us better.... Other shelves had a few items bunched together at the front of the shelf but the back was totally empty.
I tried to comment to the cashier as I was at the till, but the guy just grunted and didn't say anything at all. Now all the other cashiers in that store would have asked me if I had been able to find what I needed and even perhaps called the back to see if there were any items ready to come out.... Not this guy. He was so grumpy!
All in all, I did get almost everything I needed -- except for cottage cheese. That was another shelf totally empty.
